Each committee functions under terms of reference approved by the Board and reports its activities and recommendations at prescribed intervals.

Manages the formal grievance and complaint handling process for members and stakeholders, operating under GMDEF's dedicated procedure document (GMDEF-P1).

SaMD Committee

SaMD Committee

Dedicated committee for Software as a Medical Device — covering IEC 62304, IMDRF guidance, AI/ML in medical devices, cybersecurity, and digital health regulation.

Standardization Affairs Committee

Standardization Affairs Committee

Promotes awareness and adoption of ISO, IEC, BIS, and other relevant national and international standards among India's medical device sector.

Associates / Partners Affairs Committee

Associates / Partners Affairs Committee

Manages GMDEF's relationships with industry partners, sponsor organizations, and associated bodies at national and international levels.

MD/IVD Technical Committee

MD/IVD Technical Committee

Provides deep technical expertise on medical device and IVD design, materials, testing, sterilization, biocompatibility, labeling, and post-market requirements.

GMDEF-Volunteer-Committee

GMDEF Volunteer Committee

Coordinates the network of GMDEF volunteers who support events, training programs, committee activities, and community outreach across India.

Government-Affairs-Committee

Government Affairs Committee

Acts as GMDEF's interface with CDSCO, Ministry of Health, BIS, and other government bodies — providing technical input to policy development and regulatory reform.

Processes membership applications, manages renewals, and oversees member engagement, retention, and satisfaction across all membership categories.

Refinement Institutional Committee

Manages GMDEF's own institutional quality and continuous improvement, reviewing policies, procedures, and governance documentation for alignment with best practices.

Information & Publicity Committee

Information & Publicity Committee

Manages GMDEF's communications, publications, website, social media, newsletter, and awareness campaigns to amplify the Foundation's reach and impact.

Incubation & Innovation Committee

Incubation & Innovation Committee

Fosters indigenous medical device innovation by connecting startups, incubation centres, and universities with manufacturers, investors, and regulatory expertise.

International Relation Committee

International Relation Committee

Builds and maintains GMDEF's international relationships with IAF, IMDRF, AHWP, and global medical device associations for regulatory harmonization and mutual recognition.

Accreditation & Certification Affairs Committee

Accreditation & Certification Affairs Committee

Supports conformity assessment bodies, notified bodies, and testing laboratories with guidance on NABCB, NABL, and IAF accreditation requirements and processes.

How Our Committees Work

Each committee operates under Board-approved terms of reference that define its scope, mandate, composition, meeting frequency, and reporting obligations. These are reviewed periodically to ensure continued relevance.

Committees are open to GMDEF members with relevant expertise. Members may express interest in joining a specific committee through the Secretary. The Board appoints committee members based on expertise and capacity. Senior experts and external advisors may be invited to support committees in technical or strategic matters.

Each committee reports its activities, recommendations, and outcomes to the Board of Directors at prescribed intervals. All committee proceedings are recorded and placed before the Board at the next Board meeting.

In addition to standing committees, GMDEF constitutes Working Committees for specific programs, events, projects, document development, regulatory initiatives, training modules, and member services. These are time-bound and dissolved upon completion of their assigned task.
